Los Altos Hills’ City Council has put together a proposal that would reward residents constructing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by their standards versus the new California ADU laws. The state laws prohibits requiring a setback of more than 4 feet or more than 1 additional parking spot. But, in exchange for adhering to the city’s 30-foot setbacks and additional parking spaces, residents will be allowed increased building height and additional floor space.
